THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
marketing, communications, PR, content creation, business development, accounting & social media.
We have 2 positions open that would be suitable for English, Marketing, Accounting, Communications or Business Majors. However this is not exclusive.
The Mississippi LIGHT Collaborative is a creative, professional, diverse environment. The interns would meet a wide range of people through working with US. The right interns would be able to become Mississippi LIGHT ambassadors in time. This would give them the opportunity to run their own projects in The Collaborative, with the support of our network.
This Internship is an exciting opportunity for the right person to grow in. The interns will have the chance to bring your fresh ideas to the table & to be creatively involved.
A lot of the work would consist of research, content creation, social media, project management (depending on intern) & some general business administration, as well as public facing jobs when & as needed. N.B. this internship would not include making coffee - we want to work with the right students to help them excel in their strengths & for them to get the chance to use them in the work place.
The right person would be able to take instructions but also think for themselves. They need to be self-starters who enjoy being part of something. They need to have attention to detail & have good written skills. They need to have time management skills & are able to see a project through to the end.
Most importantly the right person would be passionate about shining a light on their city; Jackson, Mississippi.
Each individual will be required to have a personal development plan. We will support them to create this & their time working with us will be focused around areas we identify together that we feel is a fit within this environment.
To apply the applicant must send their resume & their personal development document. If this is their first time doing a PD document they are encouraged to ‘Google it’ & create a draft to send to us. There is no right or wrong way to create this document it is merely a stepping-stone for us to conduct a strong interview on. Their first assignment if we decided to move forward would be to finish their document.
Deadline: 25th April 2017.
We have 1 summer holiday internship & 1 work / study internship available.
Unfortunately the internship is an unpaid position, however there are opportunities for the right person to get involved in paying projects.
Hours are business hours but flexible. We are based in downtown Jackson. The applicant will need to able to commit a minimum of 16hrs a week for a minimum of a month. They need their own transport.
